This set of 12 collectable character cars uses the old and new Clue games as inspiration. The description of the cars' packaging reads, "Whodunit? Was it one of Clue's vintage suspects or one of their modern counterparts?
Was it a vintage weapon or modern? In which room? The only way to solve this mystery is to deduce which game cards are missing!" Each suspect has two cars - an old an a new. Each car is painted with the graphics of that suspect
as well as one of the weapons. Each car packaging also contains a Clue card. Collecting all cars, however, won't reveal the solution to the mystery which makes the packaging deceptive. The cards seem to be random.
The modern set of cars is based on the 2002 edition while the vintage set is based on the 1963 and subsequent Nostalgia box edition. These cars, while nice for a collector of Clue, make little sense. It would appear that Hasbro is becoming desperate in trying to milk the Clue license for all it is worth. An interesting note is that the modern Miss Scarlet car is listed on the packaging as a 2003 Chevy Corvette whereas the bottom of the car is imprinted with "1998 Chevy Corvette." |
