You slip into the secret passage and watch as two men enter the Library. Both men are wearing tan trench coats. You are guessing that they are the investigating officers.
Mrs. White,” the taller, thinner officer greets Mrs. White as she enters the Library, “I’m Inspector Pry.”
“I’m Chief Inspector Noble.” The shorter, fatter officer says sitting in an armchair, “Please have a seat.”
“Inspectors, I’m certain I do not know who killed John Boddy, but I can tell you that I’m not sorry he is dead.” Mrs. White says, “Everyone hated him.”
“Would you care to elaborate on that?” Inspector Pry asks
“He was a terrible wicked man.” Mrs. White says, “He dragged us all down into a deep pit of despair.”
“Mrs. White, you are talking in riddles.” Chief Inspector Noble says
“He accused my husband of a crime he didn’t commit. In fact John Boddy was the man responsible for the actions.” Mrs. White says
“Your husband was accused of dealing with in the unethical service of women companions?” Inspector Pry says after a moment’s hesitation
“I suppose that is the polite way of saying it.” Mrs. White says
“Are you certain that John Boddy is really that man in charge?” Chief Inspector Noble takes off his glasses.
“Not only is he the main man in charge, but there are three other people here that control his foreign divisions.” Mrs. White says
“Mrs. White,” Inspector Pry says, “Where did you last see Mr. Boddy alive?”
“In the Kitchen.” Mrs. White says, “It was after the outburst of everything in the Hall. He had rushed off in here to make a phone call.”
Inspector Brown picks up the fray telephone flex.
“As you can see it proved futile.” Mrs. White says, “I was in the Kitchen trying to clear my head. I had a cigarette. Out of nowhere he appeared, begging me to help him. I told him that he already had too many enemies, myself included.”
“Did he leave that room alive?” asks Inspector Pry
“I don’t know.” Mrs. White says, “Monsieur Brunette came in and we both left together. We went to the Fountain. We had a long talk out there. It was about sunset by the time we came in. When we came in, Miss Peach was weeping miserably by the piano with Sergeant Gray at her side. He had a grim look on his face. He then told us that Mr. Boddy had been murdered.”
“Were you shocked?” asks Chief Inspector Noble
“Heavens, no!” Mrs. White says, “Why else do you think I when outside? I didn’t want to get in the way of the bullets flying and knives slashing.”
“Assuming Monsieur Brunette can confirm that Mr. Boddy was alive in the Kitchen and that you two were together until Mr. Boddy was confirmed dead, then both of you can be removed from the list of suspects.”
Mrs. White begins laughing.
“What could possibly be funny?” asks Inspector Pry
“Did it ever occur to you that the murderer… or murderess may have an accomplice?” Mrs. White says, “You know: someone to lure Mr. Boddy to the quiet room, someone to distract him as the deadly blow is given, someone to wait patiently with him until the poison kicks in. Then they both have alibis and they both can check to see if the hall is clear so that they can dump the body in the Cellar, leave quietly one at a time, and forget that any of this has ever happened.”
“You seem to be an expert.” Chief Inspector Noble says
“I read a lot of mysteries in my spare time.” Mrs. White says

Monsieur Brunette.” Chief Inspector Noble says as Inspector Pry leads him into the Library, “Tell me, did you happen to spend the better half of the evening with Mrs. White.”
“Oui, messieurs.” Brunette says, “I found ‘er in zee Kitchen with Monsieur Boddy. She asked to speak with me in privacy. She lead me to zee Fountain and she talked my ear off until dusk.”
“When you returned to the Mansion, Boddy was dead?” Inspector Pry asks
“Oui.” Brunette says
“Rumor has it that Mr. Boddy was the head of an organization which unethically provided gentlemen with the company of a young lady, against their own free will.” Chief Inspector Noble says
“You can’t always believe what joo ‘ear.” Monsieur Brunette chuckles, “I assure joo, Monsieur Boddy was many things, but a brothel owner he was not.”
“Yet he arranged a party with a group of people from all over the globe.” Inspector Pry says, “The Americans: Mr. Green and Miss Peach, The Eurpeans: yourself and Madame Rose, And from Asia we have Miss Scarlet.”
“No, Mademoiselle Scarlet was Monsieur Boddy’s muse.” Monsieur Brunette explains
“Possibly one of these women, or perhaps the one who cares for and lures the women to him.” Inspector Pry says
“What would that ‘ave to do with Mademoiselle Peacock, Le colonel, Monsieur Waddington, and Professeur Plum.”
“The rest are either family or family friends.” Chief Inspector Noble says viewing the list of suspects, “Mrs. White and Sergeant Gray are staff members here.”
“I didn’t murder him.” Monsieur Brunette says
“You say that like it’s a bad thing.” Inspector Pry says, “Mrs. White made it perfectly clear that everyone here had motive to murder Mr. Boddy.”
“No, no,” Monsieur Brunette shakes his head, “Mademoiselle Peach, Monsieur Waddington, Colonel Mustard, and Madame Rose ‘ave no reason for wanting him dead.”
“Ah but the rest do?” Chief Inspector Noble says, “You know something.”
Monsieur Brunette shifts uncomfortably, “I know he threatened Mademoiselle Scarlet. Mademoiselle Peacock was quite unnerved and rather angry over this. I believe there are an intimate couple, no?”
“It is possible.” Inspector Pry blushes, “But what about Professor Plum, Mr. Green, Sergeant Gray, and Mrs. White. What motives would they have?”
Monsieur Brunette remains silent
“Monsieur, it will clear your innocence if you show us what stronger motives they may have.”
“If… and I say ‘if’ which grace,” Monsieur Brunette says, “If Monsieur Boddy was involved in this ‘business’ Mrs. White would be very angry. Her husband when down for something quite similar and was sentenced death.”
“Yes but Mrs. White was with you from the time Mr. Boddy was alive to the time he was murdered.” Inspector Noble says, “She couldn’t have murdered him.”
“No,” Monsieur Brunette says, “She is an elderly woman. Elderly women are known for poisoning. She could have laced a drink and made herself known to be with someone until the murder. The perfect scenario.”
“Thank you Monsieur, you are free to return to the Hall.” Chief Inspector Nobles dismisses him
“Merci,” Monsieur Brunette nods
“One more thing,” Inspector Pry says
“Yes?” Monsieur Brunette asks
“You should work on your French Accent a little more.” Inspector Pry says, “Also stay consistent with ‘oui’ and ‘yes’ aswell as ‘the’ and ‘zee’.”

You wait patiently as Sergeant Gray is escorted into the Library by Inspector Pry.
“Sergeant Gray,” Chief Inspector Noble says
“I’ve made a mental list of the suspect’s motives and movements throughout the course of the evening. Hopefully I’ll be able to provide everything you need to find out which one of them murdered John Boddy.” Sergeant Gray says
“Sergeant,” Chief Inspector Noble chuckles, “You are aware that you too will be treated like a suspect.”
“I see,” Sergeant Gray sits down
“Tell me these motives and movements though.” Chief Inspector Noble says
Madame Rose hit me over the head with a Wrench in the Conservatory.” Sergeant Gray says, “I found out that Boddy was responsible for the enslavement and selling of my daughter. I was enraged, but before I could confront him I was rendered unconscious. I remained that way until Mr. Waddington arrived.”
“That is the man who is missing from the Hall?” Inspector Pry says
“Yes, he turned off the electricity and has been missing ever since.” Sergeant Gray says, “He may have been the one to turn off the electricity earlier this evening. He was missing for a good portion of it. He came out of the Drawing Room in a daze after we’d found the body.”
“So Madame Rose knocked you out and Mr. Waddington turned off the lights.” Chief Inspector Noble is puzzled, “Conspiracy?”
“Perhaps.” Sergeant Gray says, “He was rather suspicious from the moment he arrived here. His uncle plans on changing the will and removing him from being the sole beneficiary with the arrival of Miss Peach.”
“Yes but from what I’ve gathered, a lot of people hated Mr. Boddy.” Chief Inspector Noble says
“Quite so.” Inspector Pry says, “And with Mr. Boddy responsible for your daughter’s enslavement, you too have a motive to want him dead.”
“Are we done here?” asks Sergeant Gray taking offense to the interrogation
“Thank you for your time.” Inspector Pry says

Mrs. Peacock enters the room and stands with her arm resting on the fireplace in a manly pose.
“So you were seen to have gotten in a fight with Mr. Boddy regarding the treatment of your lover, Miss Scarlet?” Inspector Pry says
“He is a horrible man, as all men tend to be,” Mrs. Peacock says, “I simply did not wish to see him treating a delicate woman in such a violent and brutal way.”
“In what ways was he violent and brutal?” asks Chief Inspector Noble
“She was a slave to him.” Mrs. Peacock says, “She caters to his every whim and if she dares to speak ill towards him he will torment her in unfathomable ways.”
“She told you this?” Inspector Pry asks
“Yes.” Mrs. Peacock responds
“What were your movements this evening?” asks Inspector Pry
“I stayed with Mei all evening.” Mrs. Peacock says, “She was devastated over the way Mr. Boddy was acting towards her. We stayed in the Billiard Room where Professor Plum was playing billiards. We had a few drinks and talked about our aspirations for the future. Time must have flown quickly because it was nearly sundown before we left the Billiard Room and went to see what the status of dinner was.”
“Was dinner prepared?” asks Chief Inspector Noble
“Oddly enough,” Mrs. Peacock says, “Mrs. White had seemingly abandoned the Kitchen during the preparations of the evening salad.”
“So there was no dinner?” Chief Inspector Noble makes a note
“No,” Mrs. Peacock says, “I was feeling rather famished and decided to help myself to the salad that was partially prepared.”
“Was Miss Scarlet still with you?” asks Inspector Pry
“No, she had gone to see where Mrs. White was and why she was taking so long in preparing a simple three course dinner.” Mrs. Peacock says
“Then what happened?” asks Chief Inspector Noble
“I went to the Hall and Sergeant Gray was comforting Miss Peach.” Mrs. Peacock says, “I figured she too was devastated about the way her uncle was treating people, but no. They had found his body. A few moments later I went to find Miss Scarlet. She was in the Trophy Room with Mr. Green. When all three of us returned to the Hall, Mrs. White and Monsieur Brunette had arrived and had been informed of the news.”
“When is the last time you saw Mr. Boddy alive?” asks Inspector Pry
“In the Hall earlier this afternoon when his unspeakable dealings were exposed.” Mrs. Peacock says
“Thank you, Mrs. Peacock.” Chief Inspector Noble dismisses her.

With the family reunion over and the last of the house guests out of my house I can finally resume this! I apologize for the extended wait.

------------------------------------------

Miss Peach enters the Library. Her cheeks are stained with streaks of mascara.
“Georgia Peach?” Chief Inspector Noble looks up at her as she nods, “Have a seat.”
“I didn’t kill him!” Miss Peach says as a fresh batch of tears roll down her face
“Why did you find your uncle?” asks Inspector Pry
“It just seemed like the right thing to do.” Miss Peach says, “I didn’t know of these terrible rumors of what he was involved with.”
“When you found out, how did you react?” asks Inspector Pry
“I still find it hard to believe.” Miss Peach says, “Uncle John is such a loving and caring man.”
“What were your movements after the confrontation in the hall?” Chief Inspector Noble asks
“Well,” Miss Peach thinks for a while, “I waited around for a little while until Sergeant Gray came out of the Conservatory angrily. I asked him what was wrong and he asked me to help him find Uncle John. We both looked around the mansion together. We found him in the cellar.” Miss Peach begins to cry again
“So you two were together all evening?” asks Chief Inspector Noble
“Yes,” Miss Peach says
“Was there any way that Sergeant Gray could have slipped away and murdered your uncle?” asks Inspector Pry
“Well,” Miss Peach thinks again, “When I was in the Dining Room I was distracted by two people walking towards the front of the house. Sergeant Gray was in the Kitchen. He came back into the Dining Room with me rather quickly though. There is no way he could have moved the body to the Cellar.”
“Did you go into the Kitchen?” Chief Inspector Noble asks
“No,” Miss Peach says, “He told me no one was in there.”
“Thank you Miss Peach,” Inspector Pry says, “That’ll do for now.”

Colonel Mustard enters the Library with a loud clearing of his throat.
“What’s this all about, old chaps?” Colonel Mustard asks
“We would just like to know your movements this evening.” Chief Inspector Noble states
“Well there isn’t much accounted for.” Colonel Mustard says, “I was outside by the Gazebo through most of the afternoon and evening. I came inside for a while and Mr. Waddington passed out drunk on the sofa in the Drawing Room. Then I went upstairs for a little nap. I was awoken to hear the Mr. Boddy was dead.”
“Was anyone with you to validate your movements?” asks Inspector Pry
“Well that Waddington kid was.” Colonel Mustard says, “But no one knows where he has disappeared to.”
“Did you notice anything suspicious at all this evening?” asks Inspector Pry
“Yes,” Colonel Mustard says, “Everyone seemed on edge once I came in from the Gazebo. I keep hearing little small bits of ‘what Mr. Boddy did’ or ‘I can’t believe he would be so cruel’.”
“You weren’t curious to know what the fuss was about?” asks Chief Inspector Noble
“Not at all,” Colonel Mustard says, “John Boddy is an incredibly lazy man. While the rest of us have struggled to get where we are, he is there. It’s no wonder someone got jealous and killed him. I only wish you could find out whodunit, so I could do the honors of thanking them.”

Mr. Green enters the Library with a cigar in his mouth. There is a lot of perspiration on his forehead.
“Is this really necessary to walk us all in here one by one?” Mr. Green asks
“We need to get the general idea of everyone’s movement’s tonight.” Inspector Pry says
“Mr. Green,” Chief Inspector Noble says, “You should know that we are fully aware of the many crimes that have been revealed here tonight, including your involvement with them.”
“If you expect me to talk then you are crazy!” Mr. Green says
“We just need some cooperation to figure out who killed John Boddy.” Inspector Pry says
“I’ll make a deal with you,” Mr. Green says, “If I give you the information you want, you drop all the charges against me regarding John Boddy’s slave market.”
“You are rather quick to negotiate,” Chief Inspector Noble says, “I’m afraid that is out of our jurisdiction, however.”
“Then we’re done here.” Mr. Green says heading towards the Library door
“Mr. Green,” Inspector Pry steps forward and blocks him from exiting, “If you do not cooperate we will have no other choice but to arrest you on the spot.”
“Under what grounds?” asks Mr. Green
“The involvement with John Boddy’s slave trade.” Chief Inspector Noble points out
“Have you any proof other than heresy of the other suspects?” Mr. Green asks
“You just confessed to it.” Chief Inspector Noble says, “You asked us to agree to drop the charges.”
“Seeing how that is out of your jurisdiction, it will be your word against mine.” Mr. Green says, “And I have one *beep* of a lawyer.”
Inspector Pry and Chief Inspector Noble remain silent.
“I think with a through here.” Mr. Green pushes past Inspector Pry and leaves the Library.

The Library door’s open and Madame Rose enters quietly.
“Rhoda Rose?” Chief Inspector Noble reads off the list
“Yes, sir,” Madame Rose says
“Would you care to tell us your movements throughout the afternoon and evening?” asks Chief Inspector Noble trying to recover from his impatience from the previous interrogation.
“I went out to go horseback riding with Miss Peach and Monsieur Brunette but had a nasty fall and hurt my ankle.” Madame Rose says, “I came inside and heard the nasty outburst between Mr. Boddy and the other criminals here at the mansion. I tried to find a place to relax but I found the Conservatory in shambles.”
“It was said that you were responsible for the shattered glass in the Conservatory.” Inspector Pry says
“I’m afraid you are mistaken,” Madame Rose says, “My ankle was in such a pain I doubt I could have mustered the strength to shatter that large stained glass window.”
“So you had nothing to do with the attack of Sergeant Gray?” asks Chief Inspector Noble
“Sergeant Gray?” asks Madame Rose, “He wasn’t there.”
“So it was just a room full of glass shards.” Inspector Pry asks
“Yes,” Madame Rose says, “No one was in there. I walked in, saw the mess, and left.”
“Where did you go after that?” asks Inspector Pry
“I went upstairs to find my fiancé, Colonel Mustard.” Madame Rose says
“And did you find him?” asks Inspector Pry
“He was upstairs in our suite writing some letters.” Madame Rose says, “I stayed with him until dusk. It was then that we were informed that John Boddy had been murdered.”
“Did you sense anything out of the ordinary?” asks Inspector Pry, “With your psychic abilities being noticed, perhaps you can give any indications of what to look out for.”
“I sense a woman with a taste for blood.” Madame Rose closes her eyes, “A devious heart-wrenching woman. A fraud, a liar, a theif.”

Doesn't anyone wish to continue? Or shall I just post the solution?

Because if I have enough willing to carry on.... there are still some things to discover. Wink
