MUSTARD: Its a bit of a long story. Gold is in cahoots with a local hotel, who were closed down until recently for several health violations. They have restarted the business under a different name, different building. Gold is on commission to try and get customers for the place. I suggested to Miss Peach that it would be suitable for their wedding, and Gold got me a slice for doing so. The place is a real dump, and chances are the wedding reception would be memorable for the wrong reasons. I would have pleaded ignorance to it all.

SCARLETT: A few years ago I was engaged to a rich young man. His family hired Steele to see if I was a golddigger. Steele blackmailed me for money that if I didn't pay he would report bad things about me back to the family. I couldn't and more importantly wouldn't pay him, he lied to my fiance's family, they believed him and the engagement was called off.

PEACOCK: I stayed in the Study and tried to phone Constable Teale to see where he was.

PLUM: After talking to Mrs Peacock, I returned to the Library to see Miss Peach but she had gone. I then set about looking for her, and after a bit heard that Steele had been murdered.
