I don't know how many of you belong to the Clue yahoo groups, but I just heard that Restoration Hardware is selling a reproduction of the Franklin Mint Clue for only $150!
Here is the link...

http://www.restorationhardware.com/rh/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1392487&navAction=jump

I so got one, it's not even funny. i can't wait until it comes in. They also have a reproduction of the 1963 edition.

EDIT: Here is a close up pic of the board

What did they do to the weapons? They are back to the boring originals!

While I thought the sarcophagus in the Lounge was a bit of a stretch, I find that the sofa looks terribly out of place as it takes up the entire room.

LoL... okay... I just had to return my order. I called my boyfriend and told him that I bought the game and he said that he already bought me one for Christmas. LoL!!! So now he's disappointed that I found out about my gift. But OMG I can't wait until Christmas!!!

Agreed!

I can't wait to see the card, though...

I don't think so. Cuz they're obviously not made of gold or silver, and those are two of the most malleable metals. I work in an engraving store, so we always have to analyze metals for engraving. Unless they're pewter coated with something else... cuz pewter is very very soft too.

I was only joking.

Chances are they wont break like I've heard the gold weapons have. But it's too bad they couldn't have copied the design with the new material.

Yeah. But still... the most important aspects of the FM was the board... and this board is an excellent reproduction. Although I do agree about the sofa. Aside from that though, it looks flawless.

I took some zoomed-in pix of the weapons and cards.

Aside from the weapons themselves, it also looks like the name bars on the cards were changed.

Too bad there aren't any more pictures of the pieces. It looks like there isn't any "secret drawer" in this edition. But I am curious as to what the solution book looks like. I hope they didn't replace it with a plain envelope. Either way... it still looks like an excellent game!

I wonder what the card holder will look like? And if it includes the history of the mansion in the rule book. If that is the case, how do they change the lounge description?

I've also always been disappointed in the weapon and room cards. They could have been designed better than using the gold-ish icons.

Well, if no one else gets it before me then I'll take lots of pictures and let you know! Very Happy

By the way, when my bf found out about the game a few weeks ago, it was through a catalog sent to his house. Here is the article, in case any of you were interested in seeing it...

I like that there is a reproduction, although the couch is almost laughably bad. It looks like something from a doll house that they took and spray painted gold.

Since there is not a sarcophagus anymore, I wouldn't think that there would be a book that comes with it explaining the history of the rooms. Since a sarcofagus would look incredibly silly in a room without an explanation, they probably just replaced it with that sofa.

I think I'll get used to the sofa. There were really 2 things that I didn't like about the Franklin Mint Clue: The price and its fragile pieces. This game takes care of both of those.

I am soooo excited. Very Happy

This is SO on my Christmas list! Maybe some changes were required by the Branklin Mint so that nobody could buy one of these and then try to sell it as the actual Franklin Mint piece.

Well, I'm still going to miss the sarcophagus though. I'm sure you all know about my obsession with Ancient Egypt, and the Lounge was always my favorite FM room for that very reason. But hey... it's not a huge loss. In fact, with the amount of money we'll be saving, it's nothing but a gain.

I also loved FM's Lounge. The sarcophagus was such an odd decision, but I like it.

I just noticed... the rug in the Lounge was also changed from green to blue.

How odd. That only rings true in the ad, and not the game shot.

Count that up as a nitpick! Wink
