Question about the dice

Post by Houdini52 » Sat Aug 11, 2007 7:03 pm

Was clue always a two dice game? I just bought the newest version at Walmart, and it comes with two dice. If Clue was ever a one die game, when did it change to two and why? Thanks.

That's a very good question! i don't know the answer. I believe it was a one die game in its early stages. The first clue game I ever had was Master Detective and that was two. I think it might have starting using doubles after that time. In my opinion, it serves to take more chance out of the game since it is less likely you won't make it to another room on your turn. I like the chance that comes with only one die.
How do you know what kind of pictures they are if you're such a lay-dee?

The 1987, 1992, 1996 versions (I bought one of each, though in different years,) all had only a single die.

The second die showed in one of the editions after that. I personally think it's the newest one.

Yeah, with the exception of Master Detective, all the Clue games had one die. The 2003 game is the only one with two. They also altered the rules so that they state you should roll both of them.

This was probably done to shorten the game.

Or to appeal to people who aren't very bright, like the FX rules seemed to be.
