Ha. Now that’s a sanitized game of Cluedo. Sadly just another cheap WinningMoves.UK edition.

That is a particularly cheap and uninteresting edition, which is a bit of a shame - I know they just churn a lot of these things out but with a little effort even the more odd themes could be made to look half-way decent

Edit: also I am sure they could have come up with a better motivation/case to solve than that

It's official, Clue is dead, I've lost faith in the game

Clue is the new Monopoly.

From a business perspective, I can see why they go with all these themed editions - it’s a quick and easy way to make some extra money by appealing to different fandoms and these novelty themed editions are really just that - meant to be more of a novelty.

I can get behind the themed Cluedo’s more than the themed Monopoly’s as well, as at least you can adapt the characters and locations and even the scenario to have some nice artwork and board designs - with Monopoly, I find the themed editions a lot less appealing in even a general sense as there isn’t really much scope - you need properties etc for Monopoly while you just need characters and locations for Cluedo (simplifying things here, obviously).

I guess I just avoid the themed editions on principle, unless they have an interesting new mechanic added in or I am really into the new board etc - I have the Disney themed Clue games, for instance, as I like to collect Disney theme park attraction based board games.

But yeah, some of the novelty and themed editions put in more effort than others and this Scout themed one seems to be really low effort.

Edit: Also, typing this at work on my phone so sorry if it’s all a bit stream of consciousness

I feel like this idea would be more appealing as like The Blair Witch Project

Even just better art would make this more appealing - if the board looked nicer, you could always use it as a base for a regular, murder based game.

Maybe a horror movie theme. Freddy, Jason, Mike, Chucky, etc as the suspects

I was thinking of a Friday the 13th Clue recently, but you already know who the killer would be  Maybe it could be working out who the 'final girl' will be and how she/he will take down Jason and with what weapon?

What about a Werewolf / Mafia style of game with the Clue theme. Each person could pick their character, but your special ability and team you’re on would be secret. That way you could accuse each other of being the killer while in character.

On horror themed Clue games, I would love one based on John Carpenter's The Thing! You could be working out who has been possessed by the Thing, which Thing form infected them and what room they were in.

Over on Board Game Geek they have quite a few different variant idea's posted for how to play Clue, including ones where you get to kill people as the game is being played.

I'm checking that out right now (the Clue variants, although I do want to see John Carpenter's The Thing at some point).

There's a John Carpenter's the Thing board game which could provide some design/layout inspiration for such a game:

I'll admit, I often look at the boards of other games and wonder if they could be incorporated as alternate scenarios for Clue!

Camp Crystal Lake!
How do you know what kind of pictures they are if you're such a lay-dee?

A Camp Crystal Lake Clue would be a fun idea - you could always make new cards and use different tokens to make up a Friday the 13th game!
