Singing

Post by cacums » Fri Dec 18, 2009 12:40 pm

My vocal teacher's most recent use of torture is YouTube karaokes. She said for every three songs I can pick one so I will most likely post audio tracks of my (cough, cough) lovely singing on here for critism. I warn you, I just did "All I Ask of You" and I started off singing 102% but by the middle I missed a note. I plan to do Johanna from Sweeney Todd and maybe Epiphany. I also must warn you I don't use a mirophone because they change my voice so much it doesn't sound like me.

So, this thread will be where I post them.

Can we post requests too? (I vote Girl Let's Get Butt Naked by Ice T)

I'd have a ton of respect for you if you sang my request.

Poker Face by Lady Gaga or After you Gone by Al Jolson.

A Rocky Horror song? Maybe Sweet Transvestite. I love that song a lot and it could be fun. :P

If you're looking for more traditional musical theatre songs and not Poker Face, I usually have to pick similar songs at my singing. I recently did "If I Can't Love Her" from Beauty and the Beast, and "Stars" from Les Mis.

Ha! "I feeeeeel yooooouuuu, Johannnnnnaaa!" I had to sing that song for my theatre class!

Hey, I just wanted to say, good luck. Singing can be hard, I understand. I'm a singer (kinda) and I understand the pressure. So good luck!

Thank you. I haven't forgotten about the requests people have made, I'm just studying some of the songs and trying to learn them (it does take quite a bit of time)

btw, I did Johanna for my fall recital and I was so embarrassed when my voice gave out at the last word. Grrr, but none the less it was fun to do a song I am familiar with.

Coming Soon...

I sang the reprise of "Til I Hear You Sing" from Andrew Llyod Webber's Phantom of the Opera sequel "Love Never Dies". It was for an audition that was recorder. I hope you enjoy. I made several mistakes here and there but the one I noticed the most was on the line "This shall return you to me" the word "this" was strained from dryness.

My vibrato still needs a bit of work at the end after that long breath but I can normally blend it better when singing with an orchestra or instrumental. Considering this was my first public Acappella performance I'm glad I didn't crack to terribly

EDIT: Later this week we'll be doing another one.

I would suggest trying The Road You Didn't Take from Follies, Finishing the Hat from Sunday In the Park With George if it's within your range, Not A Day Goes By from Merrily We Roll Along, or Why Should I Wake Up? from Cabaret, to name a few suggestions.

I reuploaded the video. (edited the new link above)

Hopefully it will work. I haven't used my Youtube account in years and I don't remember the password.
