RMS Titanic - 98th Anniversary

Post by WarnerPlum » Sat Apr 10, 2010 4:41 am

Today marks the first day of the RMS Titanic's voyage, 98 years ago. To mark this occasion, I shall be publishing the images I meant to use in Escape the Titanic 3, a game which had much potential but never really got off the ground. So, here we are, April 10th!

April 10th 1912
The first complement of passengers begin boarding the Titanic at Southampton, England.

At around 12:00pm, the Titanic started moving away from the dock. At the same time, its powerful engines tore the New York clear of its mooring. Collision is averted when several tow ships pull the boat away from the Titanic. The larger ship being safe, she begins her journey to her next stop, Cherbourg in France.

April 11th 1912
The Titanic arrived in Queenstown, Ireland at around 11:00 am, so as to pick up and drop off more passengers and cargo. This will be the last chance for people to board and disembark before the trip to New York.

Around this time, the ship will have left Queenstown and began heading to its final destination...

12:05am
Captain E.J. Smith was told that the ship can only stay afloat for a couple of hours. He gave the order to call for help over the radio and uncover the lifeboats, get passengers and crew ready on deck. There was only room for half of the 2,207 on board in the lifeboats...

Thanks! That was my most accurate illustration of the ship to date.
