Clue: The Murderer

Post by CluedoKid » Wed Apr 23, 2014 8:06 am

So I suppose it's time I reveal that I do have a new Clue game in the works. This one will be massive. It will return the Master Detective suspects in Mr. Boddy's seaside castle that spans over 60 rooms! There's not much I can reveal at this point about gameplay or much else for that matter except that it will be strongly story-oriented and will involve traps and tricking the other players. Ultimately, I hope to turn this in a giant 3D mansion, like a dollhouse. More to be revealed...

Sounds really interesting, can't wait to see how it turns out. One quick question, you say that there are 60 rooms in the mansion - are they all suspected locations or only a handful?

The suspects will be the 10 Master Detective suspects -

Miss Scarlet - Stage actress
Colonel Mustard - Profiteer and blackmailer
Mrs. White - Former nanny, current housekeeper and blackmailer
Reverend Green - Priest and connection dealer
Mrs. Peacock - Widow and former-schoolteacher
Professor Plum - Expelled college teacher and Boddy's secretary
Miss Peach - Authoress; crime writer
M. Brunette - Middle-man, magician, art dealer and con artist.
Madame Rose - Boddy's aunt, occultist
Sergeant Gray - Assigned to decade old case in the castle

The weapons will be distinguished by their 'method of death' so in one case, only stabbing weapons, shooting weapons...etc..etc.

The castle is multi-layered with seven levels plus a grounds/court surrounding the estate. Only a certain amount of rooms will be suspected for each case, narrowed down as evidence is revealed.

Mr. Boddy is the victim. He is the current owner who 'inherited' from the previous owners, the notorious Black family.

Their is also a butler who is unnamed at the moment.

Here are old concept drawings I did at the start of the year. Much has been changed since, but it should give you an idea of the process I went through to create the design.

Old initial concept (Kill Dr. Lucky style):

New working concept (Doll house):

I love that concept art!

With that many rooms, it seems a shame to not include more suspects. You should re-work the ClueFX characters you don't like into something more tolerable - that would give you up to 14 suspects (assuming you don't do a Lord Grey and a Sgt Gray).

Nah. I can't stand the FX suspects. Glad you like it though.

Right now, I'm working on the digital design for the mansion.

How long would it take to play a game like that?

Very exciting. Though I much prefer your hand drawn artwork to the digital.

However, the concept is amazing. Hasbro would be so lucky to come up with something like this for Clue.

After looking at the rooms, it reminds me of Insp. Parker.

Ultimately, I hope to construct an actual 3D dollhouse. :)

Those rooms give me a bit of a Clock Tower (First Fear) atmosphere. Nice!

Looks fantastic. Most of the rooms I haven't even heard of, what's a bath?
