Kitchen - empty
Toilet - Candlestick only
Hall - Ms. Mango only
Billiard Room - Rev. Green, Capt. Seafoam, Revolver
Smoking Room - Mother Drab, Miss Peach, Cane-Sword, Cushion, Rope

Murderer: Col. Mustard with the Bomb in the Dining Room
You're absolutely correct!

Did the puzzle seem too easy or hard? Whenever I try to make one, it usually falls under one of those two categories.

It seemed a bit easy to me, but I'm not a very good judge of difficulty myself.
"Are you trying to make me look stupid in front of the other guests?"
"You don't need any help from me, sir."
"That's right!"

Well, I got rather bored, so I decided to work on another MM&M mini mystery. Here you go.

------------

"Oh, inspector! You've finally gotten here!" Exclaimed a frightened Mr. Boddy, running out of his mansion. Inspector pry stepped into the entry hall, taking off his hat. "It was dreadful! I was just..."

"It's fine, Mr. Boddy." The inspector said. "I've already been filled in on the situation. Who's the victim?"

"It was... m- my maid..." Mr. Boddy stuttered out, opening the door to the cellar. Pry walked down the stairs, and stared at the woman lying below his feet.

Image

Many things were obvious from the state of the crime scene. First of all, she was obviously killed elsewhere. There was virtually no blood around the body, despite a large number of wounds on the body. There were nine wounds in all; It was obvious that whoever killed her really wanted to make sure she was dead. These wounds consisted of;

>3<-Lacerations around the neck, likely made with bare hands or a pair of gloves
>3<-A second, more linear set of lacerations made with a thick cord, such as a rope
>3<-A single gunshot to the back
>3<-A blow to the left temple from a curved object... maybe a pipe?
>3<-A blow to the right temple made with a yellow metal object, likely one of the candlesticks he'd seen on his way in
>3<-A blow to the center of the forehead, made with something made of marble, like a statuette
>3<-A stab wound in the center of the chest, probably made with a dagger or knife
>3<-A bite mark in her neck made with something with two fangs; probably a snake
>3<-However, the most gruesome of the wounds was on the face, where she had been beaten to the point where it was unidentifiable. Lying next to the body was a blood splattered wrench

"My god... Who would have wanted this woman dead?" The inspector asked, genuinely disgusted by the state of the crime scene.

"I- I have no idea!" Mr. Boddy says! "I mean, she wasn't too terrible of a person! She only blew up the one resturaunt!"

"Names!" Pry said. "Forget about motive! Who could have killed her?!"

"Uh, well...

>3<-Reverend Green stopped by for a friendly visit...
>3<-Mrs. Peacock wanted to talk to me about another associate of mine... one who wasn't here, mind you...
>3<-Miss Peach, my niece, has been staying here recently...
>3<-M. Brunette came here to talk to me about some gasoline related business deal of his...
>3<-Madame Rose wanted to warn me about a coming evil, whatever that meant...
>3<-Sergeant Grey just walked right into the house...
>3<-Mr. Tan wanted to warn me about a scam going around disguised as a gasoline related business deal...
>3<-Ms. Mango was working here like she does daily...
>3<-...and Captain Seafoam came over to pay me back for a poker game, and decided to stay."

"I see... anything else?" Pry asked.

"Oh, yes!" Shouted Mr. Boddy. "I was told to give this to you when you came by!" He pulled out a small sheet of paper.

"Well, I was asking about..." Pry said, before stopping. Boddy handed him a map of the bottom floor of the house, which he gazed over.

"The map doesn't show it, but there are entrances leading down to the cellar in the billiard room and the hall. The smoking room is right above us."

"Uh huh... thanks and all, but I was more wondering about the suspects?"

"Oh, yes! Follow me." Boddy said, running up the other flight of stairs, eager to get away from Mrs. White's body.

Up the stairs, he found the variety of suspects in the billiard room, seemingly deep in thought. None of them even turned to get a look at the inspector. They must have all heard the news already.

One by one, the inspector took statements. He knew whoever committed this crime had to have done so when they were alone in a room, as there were no direct witnesses, and they must have been armed with something. He also learned the following facts.

Image Well, I don't have much to say. I do remember walking around the manor, and seeing weapons in seven of the rooms. Oddly enough, both rooms with two weapons only had blunt weapons in them! Perfectly odd, that!

Image I'm telling you, I'm innocent! You're being unbelievably rude! Why, it would be like me saying Ms. Mango was alone, or like saying that Green had the suspected gloves! Not that those things aren't true, of course; It's simply that saying such things would be a tremendous faux pas!

Image Well, ah don't remember much... Ever since we found the body of poor Mrs. White... *sniff* Anyways, ah will admit to finding the body. I just screamed, and tried to find a phone! I ran through the hall into the bathroom, locked myself in, and finally called the police! I remember that there was a revolver on the wall in the hall, and there was one of the weapons in the bathroom... But I don't remember seeing anyone or anything else.

Image I refuse to speak without my lawyer! I will be able to tell you some of ze less important details, though... I know zat none of ze rooms on ze southmost side of the house where ze scene of ze crime; All of ze suspects there were alone and unarmed, and all of ze weapons were on their own. I think another room in ze house was completely empty, though which room it was, I can't remember.

Image Oh, I am zo happy you decided to speak to me, out uv all ze people in here you coudl have chosen! Very well, I'll speak. I remember that young peach girl vas in the room west of me. There were also two people north of me, and one person south of me... Grey vas pressing me about a psychic malpractice suit I was accused of years ago! Think of that! I zimply came to warn Mr. Boddy about a crime I'd foreseen, and see his pet snake, both of which I did!

Image Inspector. I don't have much to say; I tried talking to Madame Rose, but she wouldn't talk. I tried leaving to the dining room, but Tan told me to leave... What he found so special about a pair of gloves, I don't know. At one point, I ended up in the cloak room, where two men were talking. I just went back to the lounge after that... After tripping on the lead pipe in the same room, I mean.

Image I don't have time to talk, so let's make this quick. I came in to warn Mr. Boddy about a scam, but he insisted I stay. There was a broken piece of rope in the hall, so I threw it away in a neighboring room. Then I went to another room to relax, and got in a conversation with someone. Now, I'm close to closing a deal here, so I need privacy.

Image I don't really know what to say! I remember I was in a corner room of the house... Maybe the courtyard...? No, she was there... One of the rooms. Anyways, I know the candlestick and wrench were kept in the same room... I think Brunette mentioned the candlestick was east of him, but that's all I know... I'm sorry, but this murder's really gotten to me...

The inspector didn't even question Captain Seafoam. He was already certain of how Mrs. White was killed!

Who murdered Mrs. White, where, and with what? As well, who and what was in each of the rooms?

Reverend Green - Mrs. Peacock - Miss Peach - M. Brunette - Madame Rose - Sergeant Grey - Mr. Tan - Ms. Mango - Captain Seafoam

Wrench - Candlestick - Knife - Lead pipe - Revolver - Rope - Statuette - Snake - Gloves

Kitchen - Billiard Room - Dining Room - Cloak Room - Smoking Room - Lounge - Bathroom - Hall - Courtyard

You're absolutely correct, Jamie! Congratulations!

For anyone else who thinks they've finished, here's the solution:

Dining Room - Green, Tan & Gloves
Cloak Room - Brunette, Seafoam, Lead Pipe & Statuette
Smoking Room - Peach, Candlestick & Wrench
Lounge - Rose, Grey & Snake
Toilet - Rope
Hall - Revolver
Courtyard - Peacock
