I wasn't quite shure wether this was nessicary, but I picture Estelle Winwood as Lady Oakwood and Winston Churchill as Sir Drab.

CHARACTERS.

Dr. Jeremy Black, 46
... Thoracic surgeon. Up to his eyeballs in gambling debts. A chain-smoker with three ex-wives and a taste for foreign models. Recently broke off a society engagement when his fiancee was institutionalized following an attempt to burn him alive. Still a handsome man, but there's a hard, feral look to his eyes.

Miss Isobel Blond, 28
... Heiress to a male underwear fortune. Raises thoroughbreds. Once a statuesque beauty. An accident falling off a horse damaged her face, and the plastic surgeon afterwards completed the ruin. A fierce recluse, she hardly ever speaks.

WEAPONS.

Hatchet
... Especially good balance for throwing.

Crucifix
... Lead, chased with gold. Stolen from the treasury of King Harry in the dissolution of the monasteries, it has a long, storied, and bloody history already.

LOCATIONS.

Electric Plant
... The greasy little facility that generates power for the entire island.

Butterfly Room
... A curious chamber in the house devoted entirely to the encasing of butterflies behind glass. Every inch of space, including floor and ceiling is given over to these inlaid cases and their winged corpses of vibrant color and surpassing elegance.
It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit. -- Blithe Spirit, Noel Coward.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Best (and creepiest) Cluedo room ever.

Unlike an insect collection which is just overtly creepy, the butterflies are deceptive in their resplendent beauty, posed in free winged flight as if filled with life, yet when one observes more closely, under the fragile veneer of thriving splendor, the macabre spectacle that they are nothing more than the withered shells of creepy insects completely devoid of life becomes readily apparent, and disturbing. Nothing is as it appears in this place, with death lurking just beneath the well groomed appearance of civility.

EDIT Honestly Lord Caspen, this is absolutely brilliant. I cannot stop thinking about the creativity behind this amazing contribution to the world of Cluedo. Not only that but, like the Franklin Mint's delightfully esoteric choice of a sarcophagus in the Lounge, yours is even more apropos for this island locale as it would be in any of the mansions, museums, or almost any other setting in which I can imagine Cluedo taking place. Just marvelous.

Miss Crystal-Rose Russet
Miss Russet is a young, classically beautiful woman. Her stepmother and two older sisters, jealous of her looks, always told her that she was ugly; this left her depressed and suicidal. She eventually checked herself into a psychiatric hospital, and when her father retired from serving in the navy she told him what had happened. Her father divorced her stepmother and found work as the captain of an ocean liner, and arranged for her to work as a waitress in the ship's dining room so that he could keep an eye on her, and make sure she didn't get hurt. All was going well until the ship sank, her father drowned and she washed up on a mysterious island...

Mr. Fenton Blizzard
Mr. Blizzard was a champion fencer, having been involved in the sport since he was 16, up until the previous year when his left arm was torn off in a car crash. It was replaced with a prosthetic, rendering him unable to continue with his sport at a champion level. He claims that he was thinking of giving up fencing anyway, but in reality it left him bitter and angry at the world. He decided to spend some time away from the world in order to relax and to calm his temper.

Vine: Vines grow all over the island. They can make a handy impromptu noose.
Hunting Knife: It would be terribly ironic if the victim was struck down by his own hunting knife.

Lighthouse: The now disused lighthouse is located at the northernmost point of the island… it's relatively secluded, so was this the perfect place for a murder?
Lagoon: At the southern end of the island, there is a picturesque lagoon. It's less secluded than the lighthouse, but it's also a relatively unknown location, and difficult to find by anyone who doesn't know it's there.

So let's see, we have mine, PeachFreak's, Lord Caspen's, Lord Oakwood's, and TheBilliardRoom's. Munitzer backed down, but somebody else could adapt munitzer's. That leaves ProfesorSvestka and Inspector Japp...

Mrs. Angela Mandarin (56) - The former cook of the late Mr. Boddy, who died under mysterious circumstances that were never quite explained properly. Nevertheless, she was cleared of suspicion (more or less) and used the inheritance from her employer to do some traveling and expand her knowledge of foreign cuisine.

Mr. Jacob Cobalt (32) - Mr. Cobalt is a well traveled and experienced zoologist working for an international wildlife conservation program. His studies have taken him all over the globe and his published works have allowed him to do so in reasonable comfort. On his way home from his latest expedition, he booked a cruise to give himself a chance to relax and take a much-needed break from his work.

Rat Poison - A noxious compound used to take care of the island's rather persistent rodent problem. Works well on vermin of all sizes.

Rifle - A high powered hunting rifle from our host's own Armory. It's been missing since the castaways arrived. So has the ammunition...

Kitchen - This vast, cavernous room is a chef's delight, fully equipped with all of the latest gadgets. With a walk-in refrigerator, walk-in freezer, pantry, and scullery this room is full of places to hide a body. Or make one, if you are so inclined.

Armory - Given our host's fascination with big game hunting, it should come as no surprise that he has an impressive armory of weapons, both old and new. The latest firearms are displayed next to priceless antiquities and curiosities. Truly an awe-inspiring, or perhaps merely inspiring, room.

The Characters

Captain Benjamin Hearn- A war-torn ex-Navy officer who served as an officer on the ill-fated cruise ship. He's known to be quite ornery and disagreeable, but would he steer towards murder?

Rev. Archibald Thornhill- A supposed preacher of the Holy Book, this priest was excommunicated from the Catholic Church for reasons he'd like to keep unknown. He's been known to have a short temper, but is he willing to minister an untimely demise to our millionaire?

The Weapons

6M HCL- This particularly deadly acid was found nicked from the millionaire's chemical room. Was it the base for his demise?

Shark's Tooth- One of the Captain's heirlooms, it was found missing after the wreck. As big as your hand and as sharp as a needle, could it have been used to bring the jaws of death upon the millionaire?

The Places

The Chemical Room- In addition to hunting, our millionaire also liked to dabble in chemistry. Several deadly chemicals are located here- was this used to formulate his death?

The Treehouse- Located in an old sycamore tree, this rather large treehouse was one of the millionaire's favorite places to relax. Secluded from most of the island, could this high-up treehouse have been the place for the millionaire's uprooting?

Sorry for the delay, everyone. I had a busy weekend, but I'm kicking Lord Oakwood and Inspector Japp out of this game. The reason being that along with several other members who has PM'ed me, I have a very strong suspicson of them being Black thinking he's ever so clever. Wrong-o. Once the game start, you will not be recieving any cards, and everything you've posted in this thread is out of the window. Buh-bye.

That being said, there's a spot open for you, Munitzer, if you're still interested.

List

Post by Lord Caspen » Sun May 23, 2010 4:15 pm

PrinceAzure33,

Would you please list the elements we have to date, and the players? Also, will we try to get another player, in addition to munitzer, to replace Black?

I would like to reclaim my spot, using my originally posted components. I believe I will be able to actively participate so long as I am put toward the end of the turn order.

Once again sorry about the delay. Life has been incredibly busy as I approach graduation. To even out the cards, I'm adding two more element in the mix.

Flare Gun- A vital instrument for rescue, the castaways are in agreement that the flares are to be saved for when a ship is in sight. It went missing at some point and several suspect it was stolen.

The Beach- A idyllic spot on the island, this sunny stretch was chosen as the perfect spot to build a signal fire by the group. It is also the perfect spot to corner your predator in a game of Cat and Mouse.

So our suspects are:
*Detective Arsenic
*Dr. Black
*Mr. Blizzard
*Ms. Blond
*Mr. Cobalt
*Mrs. Mandarin
*Mr. Meadow-Brook
*Dr. Orchid
*Miss Russet
*Miss Saffron
*Gospozha Turkis
*Mr. Viridan

Weapons:
*Crowbar
*Crossbow
*Crucifix
*Flare Gun
*Hatchet
*Hunting Knife
*Rat Poison
*Revolver
*Rifle
*Rock
*Rope
*Spear
*Vine

And our island paradise locations:

*Ancient Ruins
*Armory
*Beach
*Brook
*Butterfly Room
*Greenhouse
*Electric Plant
*Kitchen
*Lagoon
*Lighthouse
*Tool Shed
*Trophy Room
*Watchtower

I have drawn each solution as well, and will be PMing players with their cards soon. The playing (drawn in random) order will be:

1. Billiard Room
2. ProfessorSvestka
3. PeachFreak
4. Lord Capsen
5. Munitzer
6. CMustard

To flesh out this game into more of a story, players will post three paragraphs into three acts. The first pargraph you post is everyone aboard the ship where you introduce your characters. Then I post the saboteur at work and the ship sinking. Then your second post will be your characters arriving on the island where you introduce your weapon. Then I'll post the unveiling of our would-be victim where he welcomes everyone but then darkly reveals his intentions, then the beginning of the hunt. Then you guys post a post introducing your locations. Then finally I'll post about how the hunter is discovered dead, and the game can finally start.

Start us off, TheBilliardRoom :)

New Game

Post by Lord Caspen » Tue Jun 01, 2010 2:33 pm

Sounds great!

You know, I think one of the most critical factors to the RPG atmosphere is the ability to post when it's not your turn, provided you don't make a suggestion or anything.

Also, if we move our characters around a little, that will help, I think.

Also: since we see our own cards, do you mind posting pics of all the cards in the deck?

Also also: is the saboteur also not being dealt out?

I just want to say that I really like the effort you put into drawing all of the suspects and think that they turned out extremely well. I'm particularly happy to see how you did Miss Saffron and Mr. Meadow-Brook.
