My Patent Cluedo

Post by cacums » Wed Apr 16, 2008 11:17 am

Since my life is back to normal, I decided to put together a bunch of my favorite suspects together for the Patent Cluedo Game, I used MD, Some for other countries, etc.

here are the suspects:

While I think it's a neat idea, I don't understand why you would get rid of the standard 6. Colonel Yellow? Mrs. Silver? I mean... it's nice to add people, but taking away the standard suspects doesn't really fit in, and replacing their names is just kind of strange.

But I do like your weapons and rooms.

My only real question about the cards is why some borders don't match up with the colors. Brown's border is peach and Yellow's border is green, for example.

I'll edit the colors, but I didn't make up the suspects:

Yes, I don't thin they should have left out Peacock Mustard and White,

Thanks though

Ooooh... okay. I got what you're trying to do now. I thought you were just making up your own Clue game and simply calling it "Patent."

Well that makes more sense now :D

However, I would have chosen 1996 White instead. She's my favorite :D

Is this based on the original model of Clue?

Yeah, the specifications laid out in the original patent for Cluedo.

Oh I made something like this a while back! Only it was my own artwork.

Well yours is quite nice cacums, I don't like some of the rooms. The Conservatory and Kitchen look particularly cheep. Especially since you took the pictures from the net, it's quite easy to find some real eye-catching rooms.

I just think if that they would be having gun room and a ballroom, surely the conservatory would be more than some ugly glassed in living room!?

Not at all bad

I like your choices pretty well, cacmus.

My only problem really is the revolver. You've depicted there a pistol. The difference is integral, because a revolver is called a revolver because the cylinder where it is loaded revolves as it is fired, in order to put the next round in front of the firing pin. Nothing about a pistol, so far as I know, revolves -- since a simple spring mechanism at the bottom of the clip is all that is needed to feed new rounds into the chamber.

I guess that's a mistake from the early editions.

I like it. Nice job recoloring Peach's dress. :)

I don't like the kitchen though.

Also, why are there pawn depictions for the rooms and weapons?

Thank's everyone,:D I don't know if anyone noticed but Peacock/Silver's dress is grey also.

Cluedokid--- The pawns, I wanted it to give the look of the game through out it, the pawns would be in rooms at the time, i gues i could drop them i was thinking about dropping them on the weapons and doing mini weapons on top, and for the rooms in the two corner, Kitchen: frying pan; Library: books; etc.

The Kithcen--- Yes, I wasn't fond of the kitchen either, does anyone have good picture choices :(

Revolver: I tried to base it off of the earlier revolvers which looked pretty much like that.

And the Conservatory, my dad told me that it looked like a glass living room too LOL.

I'm going over and editing them tonight or tomorrow, also the board, I'll try my best, I'm not that good at hand drawing furniture, or maybe I'll use SmartDraw or FloorPlanner. thanks

I don't think of the gun room as an arsenal of sorts but rather a room with maybe a case of guns and some big game trophies on the wall. Sort of like a gentleman's retreat or a smoking room.
How do you know what kind of pictures they are if you're such a lay-dee?

I think it's a bit of Column A and a bit of Column B. I think some houses probably had comfortable sitting rooms with a rack of guns and called it a gun room. That would be in keeping with the tendency with country places to make a bigger deal out of things than they really are. Instance, a bedroom might have a single Chinese vase, or something, and be called the Chinese Room.

Because this gun room is placed on the ground floor, amid all the other main rooms of the house, I suspect this one is like that.

OTOH, in big houses, especially in England, the gun room was often an honest-to-God gun room. You'd have a whole room devoted to it because it's where you stored all your hunting rifles. You'd have enough to give yourself variety, a few more for the family, and maybe a few more for visitors. It would also be where the guns would be stored of visitors who brought their own.

A whole room. Devoted to one instrument, which only becomes important for one kind of luxury entertainment: shooting parties.

I think a bathroom is more needed in Tudor Close than a Gun Room.
