New Clue

Post by TheWhitePawn » Fri Sep 22, 2006 10:17 pm

Hey guys. I was just at the mall and I saw this great version of Clue which is made to look like a book, kind of like Target's vintage edition, but not wooden. It is basically a new box for Clue 2002. Here is a pic of it. This is the book from the spine side. The other side is made to look like it has pages and everything. I didn't get it though since I don't particularly like the 2002 edition.

As much as I hate the 2002 edition, I can't help but think how stylish that looks. Truely an improvement over the box, giving a sense of danger and murder.

It was a store called "Go! The Game Store." I don't know if they are a regional chain or what, but it was at a mall by my school.

Here is a link to their website

And yes, I agree... the box is a lot more stylish. The picture is kind of bad. I just took it with my phone at the store and the wrapping reflected everything. But the colors are even better than they appear, though most of it is black.

I just wish it wasn't the 2002 Clue inside. I got so excited for like 2 seconds when I saw it, thinking that it was something new. But then it hit me that they wouldn't make the Logo so similar to the "old" one. But hey... if Hasbro continues production the way they have over the past years, we should be getting a new edition in the next year or two! Yay! :D

Oh I hope they decide not to stick with this recent edition as their final edition.

Final? That would imply that they didn't plan on making any more... I really doubt that would happen. And if they continue making more... they have to change it eventually because the public needs something fresh and new every once in a while. I wonder what the 100th anniversary Clue will look like. I'll be 61 years old when it comes out... but I'll still be playing it! :D

I love this box! I might need to add this to my Christmas list just for the box.

Of course, if quad-fold boards *beep* me off, imagine what this one will do...

That is funny that you say that because quad fold boards bother me quite a bit too... but I find the 6-fold board of the Vintage Collection Clue to be MUCH better than the quad folds, simply because the creases don't cut through any rooms and it keeps the center logo undistorted. You might like it a lot.

Really? Well, I might like it then. I just hate how flimsy the boards have become. The 1972 edition was the last to have a board which was thick and clunked together without and big creases. From '86 and on, the boards got flimsy and the creases where the cardboard was thinned out made the board anything but flat when playing.

I know what you mean though. I am wondering if it would just be easier for the boards to come in 4 peices that you place together. I bet it would look a lot cleaner if anything.
