Professor Plum's Pipe

Post by Michael » Sun Mar 05, 2006 10:04 am

I miss Professor Plum's pipe. (And Miss Scarlet's cigarette too!) Do you think we'll ever see them again? It's been over a decade!

I noticed that the UK editions never had either. Only a few European editions saw Plum and Scarlet smoking - and most of the ones that did contained artwork copied from the US.

Thoughts?

How do you know what kind of pictures they are if you're such a lay-dee?

Yes the Scarlet/cigarette thing looks better when the cigarette is mounted on a filter.

Which European editions had this?

Who knows? Mabye Hasbro is trying to discurage smoking!

Considering how politically correct the world is becoming, Hasbro would probably be sued with promoting smoking and twisting the minds of our youth.

So...I don't think we'll see any smoking suspects any time soon.

But the other side of the coin is that the game also has murder.

Really! You've struck something there, Cleudokid.

"You're teaching our kids that smoking is cool!"
"Um ... It's a game about murder. Are you suggesting we're teaching them killing is cool, too?"
"Er ... "
"Well?"
"That's our business! You just keep smoking out of it!"

I tend to miss to classic design of the board where the suspects are holding cigars or pipes, glasses of champagnge, and - most of all - the weapons! To have them all lounging about, holding knives and guns would be nice again. Miss Scarlet or Misses Peacock with a cat on her lap or something.

I would like to see it come back. It adds to the character. Besides it's not really promoting smoking. If it is, who cares, its already promoting murder, lying, cheating, and winning :) .

i think they should show the suspects in the hall, looking into the cellar ... or a view from mr. boddy up the cellar steps to the suspects
