New French "Vintage" 1972 Themed Cluedo?

Post by Murder by Death » Wed Feb 27, 2019 11:12 am

Have we seen this one before?

This appears to be branded Parker Brothers, so possibly made by Hasbro. If so, this is first re-issue of the 1972 artwork we’ve seen, board excepted — it looks like they used the 1986 board design.

Still, I’d love to see a reissue of this edition for Clue. The existence of this edition may be good news for that, since it suggests there’s no legal issues surrounding the artwork.

This is not as nice an edition as I imagined for my re-issue 10 years ago (the thread for which has been deleted from the forum). But I'd definitely like to get it. I like how they modernized the card artwork. My only complaint is the board artwork, which I guess is original to the Parker Brothers European version on which this is based, but definitely loses something in the translation for me. I hope Hasbro re-issues for the US, and update it similarly to my efforts:

Yes Nature et Découvertes make this Cluedo in wood, but you can found more easily before Christmas in the store.

Here’s another excellent cluedo variation using the 1972 theme which should not be forgotten:

Peacock's an elderly tomboy.
Scarlet *insert every Asian sterotype here*
Mustard's a retired darts player (with nowhere to be because he's unwanted).
Plum's a hunchback. (And he might be the Zodiac Killer?)
Green's a crook. With dementia. (The next US President?)
White's the only housemaid who dusts a fireplace when it's lit.
